Angry Country Wide Home Loans Keeps Calling Me!!

Country Wide Home Loans keeps calling my house to try to sell me on other services and refinancing. I currently have my home mortgaged with Country Wide. They have literally called me at least 20 times in the last month. I keep telling them, "Thanks, but no thanks." I have also started to tell them to please stop calling me to try to get me to refinance my home loan, and to take me off of their stupid telemarketing list. They always say they will not be calling back, but then the phone will ring again in another day or two.

How in the heck can I get Country Wide to stop calling my home? Can any of you in the mortgage/ home loan specialists tell me what else I can do? I've considered threatening them by saying that I am going to refinance with another lender, but that probably won't help.

Don't get me wrong. It's not the end of the world or anything, but I'm really sick of telemarketers calling me over and over, especially when it's my own freaking mortgage company that is bugging me!

Any advice mortgage gurus?

Thanks!!

It seems you are not alone, many people are reporting phone calls from CountryWide regardless if they have a mortgage or not. Are your calls coming from the phone number 800-669-0102 if so this is the Home Retention Team.

Some of the people being called by Country Wide are school children who aren't even eligible for a Home Loan and it appears CountryWide have no details on the person.. Just a Phone Number, and they fish for details such as their Social Security Number.

Not many people have been successful stopping the calls, but one method that worked for a non Country Wide account holder was they dialed the number back and when prompted for an account number entered an invalid string of numbers. This caused the call to be put through to a live customer representative, and from there they were able to lodge their details with CountryWide's "Security Breach" team to disable their info from the calling list.

This may be helpful for people reading who are not Country Wide customers, however being a customer you should be able to reach the rep handling your mortgage and request the same.

Also, many people receiving these calls are listed on the http://www.donotcall.gov/ database so this isn't even stopping CountryWide from their marketing.

If anyone is looking for more contact info for Country Wide Finance, it can be found here:

Dude, "800-669-0102" is the freaking number that Country Wide is calling me from!! lol OMG!!!! How in the world did you get that info?? Jesus, I guess I'm not the only one that is being bugged by their home loan refinance salesmen. Wowzers!!!

I am going to do what you said right now. I'll get in touch with their security breach team and see if that helps. I can't tell you how annoying it is to have your own lender hassling you to sell more financing products!!!

Thank you so much. You are great!

I haven't personally been called by CountryWide, however i have spoken with a number of people all receiving the same aggressive marketing treatment as yourself and that number has been responsible for all the calls.

Because you have a mortgage with them, you could possibly use this as leverage in stopping the calls. Be polite but point out to them all these calls at the most in opportune times is really starting to disrupt your day to day life and should they continue you will have no choice but to rethink your current and future financial arrangement with them.

They are marketing to "obtain" clients, i think if you point out to the right person/department they are pushing a current and good customer away they will cease.

Just a quick follow up. I got in touch with a Country Wide customer service manager last night. I explained what was going on (the endless phone calls trying to get me to refinance my home loan). She apologized sincerely, and blamed it on some problem with their database. She gave me her name and direct number, and asked me to call her personally if they ever bug us again. Sounds like this problem is fixed!!

I'll let y'all know if they call again.

:O)

gtull1-- I have had the same problems with Country Wide. I actually have 2 home loans with the company. They have been calling me to refinance for the last three months. I keep telling them that I don't want to refinance my mortgage, but they keep calling me. What's funny is that a different loan officer calls me every time, and I keep telling them the same thing. Weird huh?

I'm not sure if they call from the same number you all have reported. I'll find out the next time Country Wide calls, which will probably be any day now since they haven't bugged me in a few days now. lol

Just letting you known that you're not the only one.

Excellent news!

I think getting hold of the right person is key, the marketing section no doubt gets some form of commission for every new loan, refinance or contract they sign so are pretty aggressive with the calls.

I have no experience with telemarketing or CountryWide, but it sounds like the marketers have a "pool" of numbers to target and one marketer has no idea another has already called.. Hence the numerous calls and mostly from different people.

From things i have heard, getting hold of someone outside this marketing division and pointing out to them targeting you on the marketing list is going to soon loose them business (the opposite of what they are trying to achieve) can go a long way towards solving the problem.

Keep us updated Gtull1, but it does sound like the CountryWide Manager has wiped you from their calling list.
