Default Would Ocwen consider a modification for me?

Hi, and thanks for having this site. At best it might help and at worst I see I am not alone. I have an interest only loan at 6.1% with Ocwen that just adjusted to P&I at 8.75%. I have been trying to get a refi, but the broker says it's hard.. I'm supposed to hear from him later this week. I refied due to divorce, and really wanted to keep my children in the only home they've ever known, but now my payment, which was always tight, has jumped over $600 and I lost $500 in child support. I do still have equity in my home, just alot less than when I first refied. I realize now that Ocwen is a middle man basically and it might just depend on the lender, but I have to do something. I'm only making this first adjusted payment with help from my oldest son. And if I'm trying to refi, would it hurt to call and request a modification? If it matters, my monthly income is about $3100 and the payment went to over $2200.
