Default Trouble with 2nd

Need guideance, thanks to zinomortgage.org and the information placed I was able to continue working on Countrywide 1st on a loan mod, though I do not have an official loan mod agreed to, I do have a 4-month loan forebearance agreement that according to Countrywide Home Loans if I meet the terms, my loan would then be reviewed for a formal mod. (Any opinions on this?) My new challenge is with my 2nd Wamu, I had to file BK in order to fix financial mess and afford the house, which I did, Wamu has since Charged off the 2nd and according to them will be placing a lien on my house... My BK #7 should be discharged in several months, I asked Wamu for a loan modification and have gotten nowhere there is negative equity in the housevalue $950ish1st $1.08M2nd $235k is there a way to negotiate a reduction in 2nd? or elimination (could have through a Ch 13 but didn't qualify for the 13), can Countrywide assist with a negotiation? ( I have been told they would in case of short sale)... do I need to focus on short sale? how do I protect myself from collections once discharge is complete? you help is appreciated
