Hello,I am posting this on behalf of a good friend of mine who is being pushed off by NACA. He first contacted them at the end of April in order to get his mortgage refinanced or modified from 7.5% down to something far more affordable. At the time he was one month behind, and Countrywide refused to refinance since he had already been late on a payment in the past 12 months. He went through the entire NACA application process on the website, scanned and uploaded his information, went to the workshop, and met with the counselor. For the entire of month of May and into June, he called the counselor and left messages. *The NACA counselor never called back. And I MEAN NEVER! * He finally spoke to another person in the office that confirmed that the counselor never even did anything with his case; nothing was entered into their computer system after his visit with the counselor! :mad:We went onto the NACA website to see who he could contact, because now he was 3 months behind. He found an emergency email address and contacted them. This time, someone did finally get back to him and said that an offer was made to Countrywide and that they were awaiting a response. Two weeks ago, Countrywide mailed him a foreclosure notice, stating that *he will enter foreclosure on 8/6/08 if he doesn't pay everything that is in arrears.* He called NACA's national hotline (not the local counselor!) and was told that they would get the underwriter to stop the foreclosure. He asked if he should try to make at least 1 payment and they said no. He received an email from the underwriter confirming this. They said they would give him an update shortly, but if he didn't hear from them, to call back in 2 weeks. He thought that everything was in the clear, but has not heard anything from them.He called the national hotline today and could hardly get through, probably because of the Save the Dream march stuff. When he did get through, he received an automated response for the phone number that was supposed to be a direct line to this guy. He called the HomeSave hotline number and spoke to 2 different people that didn't have a clue what was going on with his case. *He was told by one person that he would have to wait until 1 week before his house was up for auction to get any further assistance --- WHAT?!?!?* All he wanted was to get a lower interest rate and a way to get caught up, and now he's 3 months behind having to go into a full-fledged foreclosure in order for NACA to take any action???? This makes absolutely no sense! The other person didn't seem to know anything at all, and when he asked if he could speak to the guy that seemed to had gotten the ball rolling before, she acted as if he was right there and said "he's on the phone right now and he said to please call him back tomorrow." What a lie - at first she didn't know the guy's name, and then after he asked to talk to him again she quickly gave that reply! He has already emailed the guy that initially followed up with him from the national office twice today, but August 6th is only 8 days a way - he needs help NOW!*If someone has a _DIRECT_ contact with someone at NACA that is informed and can actually make things happen (not one of these volunteers in the call center!), please help my friend out and provide contact information.* He will go into foreclosure next week according to Countrywide, and he doesn't want that to happen -- all he needs is a
loan modification that would lower his interest rate and include the payments that he is behind as a part of the loan. Thanks in advance,Julia
